Fisherman’s Beach Housing Development

Before: The unused site is surrounded by empty and dilapidated buildings.

A stunning housing development on former Shepway District Council-owned industrial land is nearing completion.

The site, on Fisherman’s Beach in Hythe, was previously ‘no benefit to anyone’ according to Council Leader Cllr David Monk. Now, however, he says that ‘the area is transformed’ and the houses ‘look fantastic’.

This redevelopment has secured payment for the land, as well as the refurbishment of the listed Old Lifeboat Station, eleven new fisherman’s huts and a cleaner beach.

The properties will provide much-needed affordable private housing in the area, as well as generating rental income. With many of these homes reserved already, this development promises a brilliant boost to local businesses in Hythe. Some properties on the site will be available for shared ownership, and are being sold by Moat Homes.
