My name’s Matthew Pack and I am the Chief Executive of the Holiday Extras group of companies. My father, who is from Kent, founded this business in 1983. We have around 600 employees working in Shepway and another 100 in Germany, with the group of companies employing around 800-900 people.
Holiday Extras is a great place to work. We are independently surveyed by The Times Top 100 Companies to Work For every year and I am pleased to say that we have featured 10 times on this list and reached number twenty in 2016.
We have offered a lot of work experience for students over the years, along with apprenticeships and industrial placements. Students work for a couple of months at our campus near Hythe over the summer and then they often come back here to work full time.

The main thing for us is that it is very easy to get to London and Europe. We have plans to expand and have the option to develop an additional building on our campus. Shepway District Council were very accommodating in the past when we wanted relocate from our previous building to our existing site and helped us to delist the old motel that was here.
Advantages of Hythe
The obvious benefits of being in Hythe, or out of London, are that the office space is cheaper and the way of life is better. I believe that the employees that come to work here have a better way of life than those that live and work in London. There’s no big morning commute and everyone is pretty happy here. We offer flexible working, Anytime, Anywhere, and a lot of our team regularly work from home. We encourage people to enjoy a good work/life balance and it’s great if people can take the time to get down to the beach and take advantage of this wonderful place where we live.
