Terlingham Vineyard and Winery is nestled above Folkestone, on the North Downs, with fabulous views over the English Channel to France. We are a boutique vineyard, with four acres of vines, growing Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay, Bacchus, Dornfelder and Rondo grapes.

Our Business

Terlingham Vineyard is 10 years old. I’m Lorna Wilks co-owner, with my husband Graham, of the vineyard. We were fortunate enough to purchase the vineyard, winery and old Manor House in October 2011. Having no knowledge of wine making at all, Graham went to Plumpton College for a crash course and we found ourselves a winemaker, Kobus Louw.

Kobus Louw has joined forces with Terlingham Vineyard, has his own winery in Kent and represents the fourth generation of his family to work in the wine industry. He has brought inspiration to Terlingham – in the vineyard and especially in the winery with his passion for making quality wines that have integrity.

We mainly make sparkling wines, rose and white. We do make a lovely Bacchus white wine, a red blend and a rose still in small quantities. Country Fayre in the High Street stocks our wines.

Location – North Downs

Folkestone and North Downs is an ideal place to work and live. We’re in beautiful farmlands, on the coast, close to Canterbury, Dover Castle, Channel Tunnel and 53 minutes on the HS1 to London. We have many tours that come down from London to enjoy the farm and they would appreciate more shopping, restaurants, etc in the area.

Advantages of North Downs

Given the local landscape,  two years ago, we were able to choose the path of organic farming. It will be phenomenal if we can achieve our goal and turn the vineyard into a thriving eco-system that will benefit the grapes and provide a natural environment for various creatures and animals.

Our ultimate goal is to not harm the environment in any way at all, encourage diversity in the undergrowth and make great quality sparkling and still wines! We’ll take it step by step…our second year was a resounding success. (Although a lot more work involved!) Kobus is also making our wines with natural fermentation, no sugar added or sulphur. And it tastes great!

We also have a beautiful B&B which is only open during the summer months. It’s situated above the vineyard with easy access from the train station and the highway.
