Folkestone Urban Sports Park

The opening of the Urban Sports Park in Folkestone has been put back until 2018.

The first stage of building is complete, including all groundwork and foundations, but delays to tender contracts for builders to bid to take on the next stage of work has led to the planned opening being put back. Work is expected to continue within the next few weeks once a contractor has been appointed.

Roger De Haan Charitable Trust and Shepway Sports Trust have commissioned Guy Hollaway Architects to design the Urban Sports Park. The multi-storey sports park is seen as an investment for young people and will be located in the town centre, at the junction of Dover Road and Tontine Street. There is already much talk about this ground breaking initiative which is understood to be the first of its kind in the world.
