Innovative Sector Exchange Project Events

Would you like to access new markets in Europe and apply innovation techniques to develop your business? The Innovative Sector Exchange (ISE) project can help.

ISE is a three-year programme which will organise workshops, 1-2-1 support for companies and a range of events with our partners in Belgium, France and the Netherlands. The project is now organizing this series of sector-focused taster sessions.

A focus on France

Calais Town Hall

All day FREE event

This is an event for businesses which are interested in doing business in France. It will be a fantastic opportunity to find out more about adapting products, services and business processes for the French market and to meet with French businesses from Pas de Calais.

The event includes a networking lunch.

Travel will be via car-sharing and Eurotunnel crossings will be organized for participants.

  • Meet with companies from the Calais area and other Kent businesses and experts
  • Enjoy a networking lunch as well as additional networking sessions with set discussion points
  • Find out how the ISE project can help your business to innovate and internationalise
  • Hear from a Kent company which has successfully adapted products to enter international markets
  • Hear from innovation and international business specialists about adapting for European markets
  • Free return shuttle crossings (provided by Eurotunnel) – car sharing required
  • The event is open to various industry sectors but places are strictly limited and companies from food and drink, creative and digital, engineering and new materials will be prioritized

This event is being organized in partnership with the Institute of Directors (IoD) Kent Branch, the Ville de Calais and sponsored by Eurotunnel through the provision of complimentary crossings.

Innovation Taster Session – Creative Sector

This is an opportunity not to be missed as Digital & Creative companies will be able to consider how to go about selling services into European markets, find out about the legal aspects of doing business abroad, as well as hear from businesses which have successfully entered international markets.

  • Find out about some of the legal aspects to consider when setting up in mainland Europe

What is ISE?

In order to do business in another European country, companies often need to adapt products, services or business processes. The ISE project can provide support to Kent businesses helping them to innovate and internationalise through partnering and collaborating with new contacts in France, Belgium and the Netherlands. ISE will help companies to apply innovation techniques, to develop new ways of working and to adapt their products and business processes to help with international market entry.

Who can take part in the ISE project?

SMEs based in Kent, Hauts-de-France, East Flanders, West Flanders and the South West of the Netherlands which are keen to innovate and increase their international activity.

The project will support companies from the following industry sectors:

  • Agri-Food
  • Digital & Creative
  • New Materials
  • Mechatronics (manufacturing and engineering).

  • Receive free support to adapt or develop new business processes, products and services to help with European market entry
  • Connect and collaborate with companies and experts in nearby European partner regions. 

What can you expect?

Take part in a programme of training events on innovation and internationalization

  • Join sector focused market visits in one of the four ISE partner countries
  • Join a cross-border cluster
  • Attend international innovation events.

Further ISE events will follow in March, April and May and these will be dedicated to companies that fit within the other ISE sectors (new materials, mechatronics and other innovation).

ISE is part financed by the Interreg 5A 2 Seas Programme through the European Regional Development Fund.
