National Apprenticeship Week
The 10th National Apprenticeship Week (March 6-10, 2017) brings together employers and apprentices from across England to celebrate the success of apprenticeships over the last decade and seeks to encourage even more people to choose apprenticeships as a fast-track to a great career.
Folkestone and Hythe District Council gives grants to local businesses to employ local residents as apprentices. Apprenticeships provide an opportunity for your business to grow and viable career progression.
The Shepway Apprenticeship Scheme has operated since 2012 and has so far awarded over 350 apprenticeship grants to local businesses across many sectors ranging from childcare and florists to engineering and manufacturing – funded by Folkestone and Hythe District Council.
This scheme offers grants of between £1,000 and £1,500 to local companies that recruit local people of all ages. Up to three apprenticeship grants can be awarded at any one time to businesses in most sectors.
The council can also help your business to identify apprentices through its close links with training providers or to suggest a training provider if you have already identified a potential apprentice
