Shepway Apprenticeship Scheme

The Shepway Apprenticeship Scheme is now in its sixth year and has so far awarded over 350 apprenticeship grants to local businesses across many sectors ranging from childcare and florists to engineering and manufacturing – funded by Folkestone and Hythe District Council.

The Shepway Apprenticeship Scheme, which was launched in 2012, offers grants of between £1,000 and £1,500 to local companies that recruit local people.

Cllr John Collier, Cabinet Member for the District Economy, said the apprenticeship scheme was proving a great success.

“It helps raise awareness of apprenticeships as a viable option for career progression and promotes the contribution they can make to both the development of local people and the effective running and growth of local businesses.

“We also wanted to make the process easier for local businesses and the simplicity of the scheme has been a big point in its favour.”

Businesses interested in applying for a Shepway Apprenticeships grant should contact Richard Murrill on 01303 853506 or email apprenticeships@shepway.gov.uk
