Heathrow launches search for UK-wide logistics hubs

Heathrow is inviting communities around Britain to showcase why their area is suitable to host one of four new logistics hubs.

The Government declared Britain open for business when in October 2016 it announced its support for an expanded Heathrow. The project will make Britain the best-connected country in the world with up to 40 more long haul destinations, increase the number of domestic connections and double the airport’s cargo capacity.

Before, during and after construction Heathrow is committed to maximising opportunities for British businesses of all sizes and seeks to ensure that every corner of Britain benefits from building one of the largest privately-funded infrastructure projects in Europe.  It is therefore seeking suitable locations for up to four logistics hubs which will have good connectivity, access to a relevant supply chain and strong local skills.

Interested applicants, such as landowners, should visit http://procurement.heathrow.com to register their interest and complete an Expression of Interest questionnaire before 31st July 2017.

All applications will be considered by Heathrow and a list of potential sites is expected to be announced later this year.
