P&O Workers Support Event 27th April 2022
Support event organised by Dover District Council & DWP 10:00am – 4:00pm Wednesday 27th April
Location: St Mary’s Parish Centre, 5 Church Street, Dover CT16 1LY
Organised jointly by Dover District Council (DDC) and the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), the aim of the event is to promote job and training opportunities, and to signpost support and advice available to those facing redundancy.
The event has a particular focus for those seeking to continue careers at sea or to retrain for roles in the wider port community. Other major public and private sector employers will also be exhibiting.
There will be a range of organisations offering ‘wrap-around’ services, such as benefits advice, coping with redundancy, and family support. This includes Citizens Advice and local authorities.
Folkestone & Hythe District Council will be present at this event, and will be offering help in the following areas & more:
- Information on working for Folkestone & Hythe District Council
- Job Vacancies within our District
- Council Tax & Benefits advice
- Training courses to gain new skills
- Emotional & Well-being support
- CV writing
The venue is located in Dover town centre, close to the main shopping precinct. Opposite St Mary’s Parish Church, there is level access throughout the building with no stairs. There are toilets at the venue, including a disabled facility.
There will be free tea and coffee available throughout the day. The venue has WiFi.
